I've more or less been forgotten,
Even when they promised that would never happen.
Those days spent under the tropical sun,
Never to be relived again.

Long ago it seems,
I was living the dream.
Now, nothing more than a memory,
Cast off with the wind.

My heart, it aches,
Every moment I'm awake.
Although my head is in a better place,
It knows where I belong.

To the future is where I must look,
Leaving it much like an open book.
Dwelling in the past is nothing but a mistake,
I simply have to move on.

Friends can never be replaced,
Footsteps will never be retraced.
All I can do is carry on with images of my past etched inside my mind,
Locked with a key that not a soul can find.
