#NoFilter

Take a picture,

And I'll stretch apart my mouth, irritating my cheeks.

Add a filter, change the color tone, crop here

And 0 to 100, real quick, i'll be social media ready.

But there's a picture, within that picture.

Look closely, as my cheeks quiver from pain,

As my smile blankets my secrets.

Free me of any filter,

And you'll see tthe works of a conflicted mind,

The battle between childhood and adulthood,

The everlasting reminisce of who I am.

Because who I am,

Hides what i am.

I am rebellious,

Rebutting legal law,

I am a conformist,

Obeying moral law.

I am happy,

But filled with anger.

I am my own contradiction,

Thrown in the heating pot,

With the filtered many,

And the few free

Who, both, urge to be seen,

In their truest form.
