Night Light

It’s like drowning

But everyone around you can breathe.

It’s like a thick darkness that engulfs you to where you only have inches,

It comes with the night.

The sun is buried behind the hills

And my mind comes out to play.

The knife that is used to cut the darkness

Vanishes, along with my hope.

It stalks me like a cat watching

A bird as it hides in its cage.

It swallows me whole like a simple mouse running away

From an animal with flight.

I cannot fight the inevitable.

As usual the sun regains his strength

I will continue with the war between my head and my arm length.

The sun,

I owe him my life.

The warmth, the light

As it wakes so does my spirit

I remember to feel, I remember to remain.
