Night of Darkness

Fear not,
 I shall do my part

to battle the forces of the black void,

even as night itself betrays my soul.

Be brave!
Though the cold bites,

the sun will come again

to thaw,
to nourish,
to guide.

The world will still be here in the morning.

And if tomorrow never comes...

better to have lived half a life

than no life at all.

Think of smiles,

think of light,

think of spices,

and green lush life.

Think of faces, old and young,

of plays and stories,

and music sung.

Though hour of darkness soon arrives,

in sleep, dreams defend us,
enshrined in their light.

Oh Sun, brilliant, blazing bright!
burn the mist away,

and set us aright
