next best american record

I see the city lights

They’re a little too bright tonight

I’m going too fast in the fast lane

I’ve become a little more reckless

Since you left

I even go on roller coasters now,

It’s a little funny how dying

Makes you less scared of dying.

I see the city lights

They're a little too bright tonight

I’m looking down in the fast lane

I dropped my heart somewhere between the seats

Beneath my seat

Under the car mats and the floorboards

I still find momentos of you

I still find dusted up souvenirs from a past

That simultaneously feels like eons ago

But only seconds away.

I see the city lights

They shine the way i used to

And i see the ways i have healed

My black stitches

Now reddish gray scars

I am healing

Since you left

It’s a little funny how change

Makes you less scared of change.

I have been healing

Since you left.
