A New Chapter

The chalkboards turn into laptops

The classrooms turn into an arena

Teachers are now called professors

Friends are now roommates

Welcome to College.

NYC was the dream

Being in the city was something I was looking forward to

May 2018 my dream started to fade away

Money got in the way and going away was not an option

Enrolling into a community college they say? Unheard of, but my new chapter has just begun.

Dear the Unevolved Jayla,

You had the idea of going to school in NYC since you were in middle school. The chance of majoring in communications and living it up in the city with your girlfriends started to become real, until it was not anymore. Removing yourself from the Facebook and Instagram pages became real. The friends, the dorm, the city vibe was slipping away. Instead of feeling down and upset you took this as a lesson that needed to be learned. In highschool we have the choice to do well but well enough that can get you a full ride to your university. You were an average student who was clearly focused on the wrong things college had to offer. It was not until after your first semester that it had clicked. You were going to tackle this new chapter and make it the best. After completing one year at the community college you proved to not only yourself but to others that you are unstoppable. Finishing with honors, a 3.7, maintain three jobs and keeping your mental health all together you have seen your growth. Now it is time to continue this journey at Drexel University.

From, the Evolved Jayla.

The chalkboards turn into laptops

The classrooms turn into an arena

Teachers are now called professors

Friends are now roommates

Welcome to College year 2!

You are now ready to

GROW even more with this new confidence,

GLOW into these new oppurtinites and everlasting memories,

And time to GET THAT DEGREE!
