Never Said Goodbye

“Hi! This is Alice! I’m sorr—.”

“AHH!” Jenny threw her phone across the room. “Why won’t she answer?!?”

Sinking down to the floor of her apartment, she buried her head in her hands. She wished she would pick up. Jenny’d left her four voicemails and texted her at least five times.

Her phone suddenly began buzzing.

“Alice?”

“Jenny, turn on the T.V.”

The screen blipped on.

Two burning buildings met her eyes.

“Oh God…”
