Nature Consumed Me
Location
Darkness consumed the sky
An ominous fog lightly dusting the forest; there was an unknown lurking
Walking, the crunch underneath my boots tickle my ears
The leaves shriveled from summer to fall
The bark of the trees, a burnt brown
The roots extend to the ground connecting all in existence
I felt life beneath me, nature, my euphoria for restoration
Clarity entered my soul, the fresh air pungent with greens and blues
In this space I was an individual, unbound by the rules of society
Gazing up, the fired auburn of the sky filled dull my eye sockets
The bright colors then over powered as night approached, a deep black began to consume the earth
With the night came a chill, the air suddenly frigid as I wished those summer nights good-bye
The sound of a stream in the distance rushed deeper into my ears
And the darkness swallowed the trees
My body followed the sound
Eager
At the edge, mint leaves lined the water
I stepped in
Cold tingling my toes and replenishing my life
Water danced around my ankles
I walked
The stones of the stream gliding under my feet
Nature consumed me
