Natural Filter

Location

“No Filter” you say, as I read the screen

It’s simply written, yet harder than it seems.

Filters are hidden, but omnipresent through life

And without our awareness, they’re becoming our vice.

They take our natural selves away.

So do me favor, let your beauty stay.

Take off the filter, let your true colors shine.

I took the risk and I turned out to be fine.

Without a filter, the world can see me for who I am,

A girl who loves her sister and her cat named Sam.

I’m a happier person now that I don’t hide under a mask

Now, I’m ready for college and I know I won’t look back.
