Natural Beauty

Up close and personal,

your blemishes become blatant.

Beautiful marks blended of honey,

and canary yellow; ribbons and ripples

of skin. Your papery flesh screams

to be touched by new hands.

Why do you close off your core?

Folding away for fear of judgement;

like a child being scolded hiding

in the corner. I could try to grasp

your reasons, try even harder

to understand your mindset,

but I will always see you as golden.

You are incomparable to your ruby

sister. I see jealousy

in your mannerisms. Longing

for her smooth scarlet skin, so much

that you lose sight of your champagne charm.

All I know is that you are afraid

of imperfections. Your voluptuous

lips quiver with fear smoothed out

in the corners. I desire your delicate skin

and timid presence. I watch you seclude

into your self and shy away from existence.

I beg you to leap up, grasp hands

with the sun and take advantage of this

natural beauty you have been given.
