My Unseen Beauty

My only friend across the glass
knows who I truly am.
With no questions asked,
she does as I do
mimicking every dance, every glance.

My own sympathetic twin
shows me what I can’t see.
Opening up her heart
she cries and weeps;
so I smile and she smiles with tears.

My honest reminder
tells me what I want to disappear.
Covering my scars with clothes;
she shout out all the beauty I don’t see
as I direct my attention to the imperfection.

My mirror reflection
concerns herself for me.
Her admiration doesn’t reach
so she grieves in the shadows
until I’m able to recognize myself.
