My Soul's Melody

It would be tedious to depict my love

For jazz, my soul’s melody.

It is my belief that jazz is from above

Created by the gods; pure ecstasy.

Often times I receive confused looks

When I confess my love affair,

They often argue that jazz is ancient as the books

I have a theory that jazz is beautifully rare.

How can one not appreciate

The dulcet chords from the guitar,

The rhythm that the drums orchestrate,

Musical poetry that can easily be enjoyed from a far.

I could never lie to myself; my infatuation with jazz is quixotic

My ardent passion for this music is simply, and eloquently cathartic.
