My Quiet

Sat, 09/08/2018 - 17:47 -- Penola

I am not lonely when I’m alone

For my music soothes my soul

I soak in the silence

Until it overflows

In every pore of my being

My melodies come in the dead of night

Whispered between myself and God

At the witching hour, when no one wakes

My orchestra comes alive

But when others are around

My lovely symphony vanishes

The rhythm of my heartbeat,

No longer keeping time,

Now pounding within my skull

Like a caged bird that bloodies its body

My mind screams for freedom

Until my vocal cords shred themselves

And I choke on my own tears and phlegm

My quiet is the only thing that heals me

My quiet is the only thing that can
