My Pledge of Allegiance

A vow with my right hand, do I take,
A cover for my personal beating drum.
A chorus of voices, do I join,
With hat off, honor giving me three inches,
I set my sights on manifested integrity.

Crisp, confident stripes, red and white,
Around one blue, starry, staring eye.
Our heads, like meerkats, lifted toward three colors,
Dripping from a wooden spine.

As one Nation, we sing:
“Land of the free, home of the brave”
Our voices lifting it to wave.

We’re together, united under its shadow,
With a feeling of unsurpassable warmth.

My Pledge of Allegiance to you, my country, my companion, I give.

This poem is about:
Me
My family
My community
My country
