My Parents fled from IraqTo

My Parents fled from Iraq

To the great U.S of A

Seeking Religous freedoms, while keeping Saddam at bay

Michigan is where they settled

Had children who grew and mettled

I gazed in awe at the Great Lakes

Wow, this was my country, look at what it makes!

Stories of hangings and trials

Asking my dad, "was this all worth the while?"

He looks at me and smiles

Explaing how he would walk miles...

Water and Bread is what they waited for

Only to find it In America at the grocery store

These simple Pleasures we take for granted

Thanking America for all it has granted

This poem is about:
My family
My country
Our world
