My Mother's Garden

I am from my mother's garden,

A garden of the heart;

She planted all the good things

That gave my life it's start.

She taught me right from wrong

By nurturing seeds of self esteem.

When my seed began to sprout,

She was the sun that led me out.

When clouds roll over and giants shake the earth,

I remember her kind voice leading the way.

For how nice she smells after that long rainy day.

For bright colored butterflies blooming in the light,

All things special still held tight.

Safe within the fence surrounding me,

I am thankful to have her strong roots

Protecting the beautiful flower she longs for me to be.
