My Life Through My Mothers Eyes

As I took my first glance at the world,

You cried

As I took my first step,

You cried

As I peddled my first bike,

You cried

As I lost my first tooth,

You cried

As I left for my first day of school,

You cried

As I told you about my first crush,

You cried

As I entered high school,

You cried

As I told you about my first relationship,

You cried

As I wept over my first broken heart,

You cried

As I walked down the aisle for graduation,

You cried

As you dropped me off for my first day of college,

I cried

As I said my last goodbye,

I cried

As I looked back on the rough times and the long nights,

I cried

As I look back on the times you’ve cried for me,

I cry

As I look to the future and all that await us,

I cry

As I kiss your cheek for the last time mom,

I smile
