My Life

To life, I'd like to thank you
For all that you've done
For making things be perfect
And making things go wrong

Growing and changing
Like a tree growing tall
I've learned to get up
Though, I've tried not to fall

The self pity I've known has been stronger than most
For my dad was hardly there
He wasn't there for birthdays
Or to put butterfly clips in my hair

My mother cheated on my stepdad
After he only loved and cared
They might not be together long
And for that, I am scared

So thank you life, for hurting me
You have made me strong
Through all the times of happiness
And all that has gone wrong

This poem is about:
Me
My family
