Everyone seems to have it,
That one place that feels like home.
Well I am no exception,
And this is my home away from home.
I have been going here for over six years,
But it feels like a lifetime.
These people are my family,
And I love them to pieces.
It sounds extremely cliché,
But the church is my safe haven.
I am always welcomed with opens arms,
And I couldn’t imagine better people.
Some I have only known for a short time,
Because people come and go,
But these friendships are forever,
And I am blessed to have them.
Like brothers, sisters, cousins,
Aunts, uncles, and grandparents,
We are one huge family,
Always spending time together.
There are few secrets,
And even fewer arguments.
Nothing but love and playing around,
Makes me feel like I belong.
Before I came to this church,
I never looked forward to Sundays and Wednesdays so much.
I was never involved in so many events,
And I never knew that love could be so strong.
Even with my own family,
I haven’t experienced a bond this tight.
Everyone here loves everyone else,
And the appreciation is overwhelming.
Sometimes I feel more comfortable here than at home,
I can just be myself all of the time.
No one sees the mistakes that I have made,
And if they do, they don’t care about them.
I know that I have found an amazing place,
And the people that love me the most.
This is my home away from home,
And I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
