My Hidden Self

Location

Take the candle bright and bold,

See it dripping red and cold.

Hidden deep within herself,

Broken with the bitterness.

Selfish needs of other people,

Beating hearts and bleeding steeples.

Down the hole she falls in deep,

Sad and slow and cold.

The darkness wraps its cold hands around her,

All the demons in her hide her.

The light so far away,

It cries.

Down in the bottom where she now lies,

When lightning strikes and she bleeds at night.

All potential gone from fingers,

Nonsense stops but then it lingers.

No cohesive thought she knows,

But living there her loneliness grows.

She hears her heart begin to stop,

And now she's just a puppet and a prop.
