My Grow Up Moment

My Grow Up Moment

Boy or girl my parents were torn

That is until the day I was born

They had high hopes and dreams for me

And wondered what I would turn out to be

Growing up I loved dolls, pasta and Scooby Doo

I enjoyed making things with glitter, paint and glue

I was my grandma’s favorite little girl

To me she was as precious as a pearl

When my grandma got sick

It seemed like it came on so quick

To know that she came home to die

Made me so sad all I could do was cry

For the month it took for her to pass

I prayed each week for her at school mass

Visiting her each day was very hard

She could no longer watch me play in her yard

When she didn’t get better and only got worse

I knew then that I wanted to be a nurse

I was just a girl at the age of eleven

When my grandma died and went to heaven

I guess when she passed is when I grew up

Seeing her teeth on the table in a cup

I realized things don’t last forever

Whether its people, teeth or whatever

So my thoughts were that I wanted to help the sick in need

Even if it was just to clean and cover their bleed

I studied real hard from then on to be my best

So that next year I can pass the NCLEX test

I can’t wait to care for those

In honor of my Grandma Rose
