To my friend

I see you everyday-

Then I see you every month-

I see you less and less.

How can we still be-

Acting like it was middle school?

How can I still be trying to get your attention-

like it was seventh grade?

Back then I loved you-

then I got to know you.

And love well it now seems wrong.

That love brewed inside of me for a year!

Then you found Jess and those feels-

they made me jealous.

Months went by then you told me she didn't trust me-

Around you.

I blame her for your falling out years ago.

But I don't anymore

Because our friendship has withstood the test of time

Meanwhile the feels I had for you-

They were replaced with new ones.

Ones that made me comfortable around you

Ones that made you seem like my brother

I love you my friend

I hope you always know this

No matter what happens between us now-

I hope that you will be there years from now giving the toast at my wedding

And I yours.

I hope we laugh and have fun and act like we're back in eight grade,

No cares in the world.

I also hope that your kids are best friends and get to know each other-

Like I got to know you.

I hope that they act just as crazy and I have the most amazing times together.

If or when we go or separate ways, dear friend, I hope we find each other again-

And act like nothing has changed.

Because that's the way it should be between best friends.

Through thick and thin that's the it should always be.

No matter what.

Love your friend,

your best friend.
