My Daughter

Thu, 04/18/2013 - 15:25 -- sldavey

My dearest darling daughter
Oh you mean so much to me
With your little baby smile
That makes me happy as can be.

I hold you in my arms
And you just stop your crying
And smile back at me
And I realize you are worth all that dying.

But I had to let you go
Your mom and I,
We had to give you to that nice family
Sign you away to them,

To take you home
To feed and nurture you
To watch you grow up

And everyday I cry
Because I can’t hold you,
Can’t watch you grow up,
Or raise you as a daddy should.
