My Cape

I write to write

To throw my words against a wall

And have them bounce back

Through the ears of you all

I want the world's ear

So that I may whisper in it

Loud and clear.

I want my words to help me fly

Like Superman, so that I can go up so high

And from the top of the world cry:

"THESE ARE MY THOUGHTS, MY WORDS, MY FIGHT."

All packed in my mind,

I have tons of these thoughts

Like all those cars

In Black Friday parking lots

I just want a group of people

To truly listen

To watch my mouth run

And my eyes glisten

I want the world to hear me --

But for now, I'll settle

For at least two or three.

It's a tough, grueling road

To get yourself heard

It's easy to slip into that give-up-mode

But if my thoughts are my cape

Give or take

And my words are my mask

Then my mind makes me my own hero

With one gloriouis task:

To defeat those who won't let me be heard

The villains of the story who will steal my word

I know it'll be hard, to defeat them all

But just like Superman

I gotta keep standing tall.
