To My Brother

each day we left the house together

hand in hand

amma always said make sure she doesn’t get hurt and—

But you would already be running

With your shoelaces untied

wrinkled shirt

and grab my wrist

we’re out

my little foot just grazes the sparkling pavement

when you begin

do you know why the sky is blue?

one day its

if superman and batman got into a fight

who do you think would win?

Did you know that there is such thing

As imaginary numbers?

and the list went on

everyday was a lesson

with you

i cant count the days

that i thought i should

just stay at home with you

and make our own school

just us against the world

the times you pulled me up

and squeezed my cheeks

whenever i said something to make you laugh

makes me forget the times you make me mad

Grateful for you

For your laughs and smiles

Pushes and shoves

Everytime you tell me to aim for the stars

And to learn how to appreciate living

and to close my eyes

only look forward

look at no one else

be there for someone

just

breathing

and being with you

Is enough for any little sister
