My Best Friend

Liquid laughter flows through the pale, gray-blue eyes,

Melting the air...

Liquid laughter flows through the pale, gray-blue eyes,

Melting the air as it fuses into my body and

Making my laughter chime with a chaotic cascade of giggles,

Harmonizing with his frantic, deep laughs over something ridiculous.

When rivers of sadness flow hotly down my face

Turned red from the shame of crying

At something of a different kind of ridiculous,

His arms embrace me in a warm, kind hold

Protecting me from my own thoughts and

The concrete shell threatening to encase my heart.

Stubborn.....yet kind.

Strong.....yet gentle.

His beauty radiates from its sources---

His brain.

His heart.

Despite the teasing of those who are supposed to love him

And the bitter tone of sarcasm my jokes tend to take,

He never stops caring about the people he loves.

He never stops doing what he loves.

When I feel trapped in my body and mind,

He is always there, comforting me.

When I am stuck on something,

He is always there, working through it with me.

He is my inspiration, the driving force behind my efforts

To be a kinder, gentler, stronger person

Despite my own flaws and stubbornness.

He is willingly and brilliantly shining as my rock.

However, even the strongest and most beautifully natured people

Need their own rocks.

So when the ocean of Life hits him the hardest,

I will always be there.

Shattered hearts driven into empty darkness from hidden truths revealed

Have only left our bond to be strengthened, pulling one another whole again.

My best friend,

The man I friend-love

And may as well be family,

Are one and the same.

It may not be known where each of us will be in

Ten,

Twenty,

Sixty years,

But he for sure will still hold a special place within me.

I will always be there for him.

And he is awesome enough that he will always be there for me,

I believe. Just as he so wonderfully believes in me.
