Music Therapy

What defines music?

Not sound and vibrations

Nor rhythms and beats

Nor measures and bar lines

Nor instruments and voices

But happiness

The wind whistling in a tree

The ocean rush in a tide

The bees buzzing in a flowerbed

The child’s laughter on a playground

Music is what soothes your ears

Music is everywhere-

a nickel hitting the sidewalk

a train making its appearance

a crunch of grass

a rattling of awakening

If this can touch my life this way

Imagine--

What will happen when it spreads?

Children

Adults

Disabled

Traumatic

Laborous

Elderly

Premature

can all be surrounded

in a blanket

of music

You can drown out life

with music

but you can never block the music

with life

It will always be there

to guide you in your sleep
