Music as a Distraction

Long hair gets in the way as the guitarist starts to strum, eyes closed, nails long, nails painted, mic close

she’s mine, i’m hers, honey, darling, baby, love me and i’ll love you

Bodies together, sound between, light above

Snapping, clapping, strumming, yelling

Whispering, humming, tapping, silence

Beat that!

“Is everything alright?”

G-d no.

Let’s just listen to the music

Turn it up so I don’t have to think about what I want

Why do you get to be happy when i have to be sad?

That’s not fair

My sadness allows your happiness

Of course I don’t blame you

You didn’t do this to me
