Moving On

How do you let go of everything that you know?

How do you move on from the past that you know you need to let go?

How do you make yourself okay again after breaking apart for so long?

How do you keep telling yourself that what you are doing is worth it, when all of it seems so

wrong?

Even though it is easier said than done, you know you need to take it on step at a time,

And with every step you take forward, eventually you will start to feel fine.

But it is so hard to keep going when your brain is telling you it is not worth it anymore,

And as bad as you want it, you are starting to think that maybe you should shut that door.

When that voice comes back, you have to remember why you started this journey in the first

place,

And that you are not doing it for anyone else, and all you have to do is finish the race.

One day you will look back and be proud of all that you overcame,

And you’ll be proud of your story, and it will no longer fill you with shame.

You know that everything you went through made you stronger in the end,

And you’ll realize that you didn’t need anyone else, not family or friends.

You finally know that you had what you needed buried deep inside of you,

And now you look back and are grateful for everything that you have been through.

You have been through so much, you know that you can get through anything,

And now instead of being scared of it, you are excited for the future and what you know it is

going to bring.

You know that you finally have come to peace with your past, and you can let it go,

And even when those hard times come back, you will not let any of those feelings show.

You know that you have the resilience to come back no matter what,

And you know that you can open any door, even when the one you wanted was shut.

For the first time in your life, you finally feel like you can move on,

And you feel like the dark days are behind you, and that all of the pain is finally gone.
