The Mountain Path

With bloodied legs by which I climb,

Up the winding mountain path high into the deep blue sky,

Through thunderous clouds I venture and harsh winds I fight,

My heart pounds and my breath quickens as I continue the flight,

The hike is worth the while for the peak leaves man no bounds,

At many spots on my way to the top

Boulders block my path and the earth is impassible to man,

Yet somehow I move forward past the obstacles in the path,

Never wasting a precious moment of precious time,

And never wasting a precious breath of mine,

With bloodied legs I continue to rise,

Up the winding mountain path past the first false peak I climb,

Above thunderous clouds and into withering winds,

I stop for a mere moment as soon as the peak is in sight

My heart slows and my breath evens,

A clear path lies before me so simply strewn,

I decide I must move forward for the peak is inviting me to,

Never wasting a precious moment of precious time,

And never wasting a precious breath of mine,

I climb to the top of the mountain path.
