Mother's Sonnet
As clear and bright as early morning sky,
With color bluer than a tropic sea.
My heart was captured by those bright blue eyes,
How lovely was the gaze they gifted me.
Those baby blues get dimmer every day,
How small they seem on that growing face.
And I am slowly being pushed away,
For little men need more than little space.
But man or boy he is still my little son,
My fairy tales will still lull him to sleep.
I'll tuck him into bed when day is done,
The kisses that I gave him are his to keep.
And grown or not he'll always be my child,
The one I rock to sleep and let run wild.
