Mother

Location

I was in too much of a trance to call her name
I did not know innocence had feet until she came
Her movements were impeccable as if life was a game
Blinded by peace she knows no hurt or disdain
The Sun rises to be a witness
As it sets it prays to remember glimpses
Glimpses of a living light where words have zero relevance
Birds cease flight just to be in her presence
Trees bow down in order to beg for acceptance
She is life when all was nonexistent
Nurturing earth to be as beautiful as she
I’m amazed that she gave birth to me
Her words are the lost songs of sweet liberty
Her goodness extends farther than the seven seas
Grace and class had no name until she came to be
To be the face of honey to a bee
To be the undocumented portrait of Picasso’s hand
Better yet, to be the example of God’s perfection of what it means to be a woman
To be the lady that made loving a work of art
To be a phenomena while still possessing simply a human heart
With unprecedented humility she grants me the audacity to say that my mother is a goddess times infinity
