More Than Just the Demons
Location
Her head was tucked, legs up, knees touched
In the covers of the clean blue, atop the stiff bed
Her thoughts were inching to it, her eyes shut
It was safe where she was before.
Where there was comfort in oblivion,
where illusionary content chained her ability to soar,
where she believed she was already in the air.
Below were all the treacherous things.
Where forbidden and evil things lay,
where wretched emotions will cling.
Where the curious contaminated stays.
She was trapped in the air.
She did not see the tinted glass below her.
Instead she saw demons, darkness, and despair.
When all along, what was waiting for her
was more than just the demons.
There was fire that burned oblivion.
She fell, and found the beauty in truth.
She worked her legs and moved her arms,
She reached and stretched and broke her name.
She reveled in the new and breathed it in.
It was stimulating, oh so much.
Alert and ready she explored.
Open-minded and free,
she found interest in everything.
More wonder than ever,
and still, she appreciated the sky.
