Half asleep, yet full of laughter
Knowing not what we are after
The fill and feel of the crisp morning air
We steal our joy spent with such little care
Our dreams making up our new rallied world
Our voices shrilled and imaginations unfurled
The leaves like glass, the sun shining through
My hazel eyes gleaming in the red orange hue
I walk with wonder strapped to my back
Lighter than a feather, sense I may lack
For heights never conjured a full fear from me
But this day is different from so many I’ve seen
This newness I like, though new it will not be
Once I realize what exactly is at the peak of this tree
In time, I’ll climb down with the help of my friends
And my eyes will see roses in an assortment of blends
The leaves will turn brown, my memories the crunch
My devotion a notion of a convoluted hunch
That I’d had when forming this motley crew
But for now, I listen and run and move
Through these autumn leaved trees
And a green growing field of dreams
Through a high flying summer sky
Black and white film running over my eyes
This breath of fresh air is all I need for a lifetime
So I thank you for these days
and I bid we may bask in the future sun rays
