The Mind War

“Don’t stop.”

“You deserve this”

“You should just do it”

That’s what kept replaying in her head over and over.

As she was reopening old cuts.

As she popped those pills.

People would say she was doing it for attention or just plain make fun of her for how she was.

So as she slid closer and closer to that end of that bridge.

She stopped right at the edge.

Looked down.

Looking at that moonlit water.

She thought to herself through those thoughts,

That went on and on in her head.

‘Should I?’

‘Should I just end this pain and suffering once and for all?’

‘Who would care?’

She looked back up and turned around to where she wished someone was.

But no one was there.

So this poor girl turned back around towards the edge.

And she took her leap of faith off that bridge's edge.

People wondered why the next day.

They would mummer around saying

“Wow she really did that.”

“We should have talked to her more.”

Then there would be those people who were just silent.

Because they knew.

They knew this girl was suffering so much, but didn’t say or do anything.

Now they wish they were on that bridge's edge before she did it.

At the end of the day, those people that made fun of her would be leaving flowers and notes near her gravesite.

Because that's how the world works.

No one cares until you're dead.
