A Million Reasons
Nichole Johnson: A Million Reasons
Diverse connotations of love.
There are a million reasons.
Communication is key,
No arbitrary remarks; complete loyalty
There are a million reasons.
Trust is a must, but how is this so
When rules and regulations force the way you go
There are a million reasons
Claiming to the legacy to love until you die;
A silent chokehold that will not let your true feelings by
There's a million reasons
Serving each other as a responsibility
Another must be my priority
But not me?
What happened to the millions of things that I could be?
Trusting that you would respect my choices,
Retain your loyalty
There are a million reasons.
My passion runs dry
As I hold onto what was and secretly cry
I keep on a mask of who you want me to be.
Is that love?
Or is you changing me; controlling me?
Love is patient.
Love is kind.
Love is caring.
Love is mine.
It's no commonwealth: the good for the community;
But it is accepting those differences that make the individual.
Not breaking them down to make them new.
I'm at not perfect and most importantly not you.
If I had a million reasons to love
I would be a hypocrite,
For my love would not be for you
But for my benefit.
There are a million ways that love can be
In its true essence, it can be anything,
But to love inconveniently is key
If you were just you, and I just me
Both of our differences would serve one common theme:
The true love that keeps this a healthy relationship of
You. Me.
