Millennial Muses

We stalk through night streets with

cigarettes at matte lips

a haze of smoke like armor

Teenagers and twenty somethings

Our poetry starts out with

"Um, like a wine dark sea, y'know?"

hashtag flashback friday

To smoking joints with Mary Magdalene

We are whores and prudes, girls next door,

characters in boy's stories decked out in leather and lace

Cryptophasias and cracking gum

We drink limoncello and take our clothes off

The world tries to kill us, and sometimes it succeeds.

Persephone in 200 dollar demin, Joan d'Arc in fishnets

Girls have always talked to gods

These days we just send snapchats to them.
