A Midnight Sky

It wasn't all fair
With the stars in your hair
And the smile
That played on your lips.
When you made me believe
Here's my long lost dream
Coming true.

Did you search far and wide,
Capture stars and goodbyes
When you let go of me?

Now it's not at all fair
With the tears in the air,
But, I know,
You don't really care.

Well I traveled and flew
From the sun back to you,
But you were already gone.
I captured the moon
Just to bring light to you,
But the fires of your lies
Lit up your world
Before I could even try.
Now I am left to cry
Under a dark midnight sky.

Everything is wrong;
Constellation's gone,
Just as you
Always knew it would be.
Seems starlight burns bright
If given the time
Unlike us.

Did you search far and wide,
Watch old loves collide
When you let go of ours?

Now everything's wrong.
Where do I belong--
Waiting here
For star-studded dawns?

Well I traveled and flew
From the sun back to you,
But you were already done.
I captured the moon
Just to bring light to you,
But the fires in her eyes
Lit up your world
Before I could even try.
Now I am left to cry
Under a dark midnight sky.

So here's to all the dead stars
I left in your loveless heart.
