Memories Made

The day you first opened your eyes

And life began –

The tears your mother cried,

As you wrapped her finger

In the palm of your hand –

The excitement that came

With your first word,

Was loud just the same

As your first steps occurred

The joy

That filled your two year old body,

As you became a big boy

And used the potty

The year you turned five

And headed off to school,

Was the same year you learned to ride

A bike, how cool!

The day mom and dad told you

There was a baby in mom’s tummy,

Was the same day you conned them

Into buying your new puppy

On your thirteenth birthday

You made a wish…

And late that night she did stay,

To grant your first kiss

Every penny you saved from

Your First job,

Went toward the beautiful hum,

Of the old jalopy

 You bought from Bob

Caps in the air,

Diploma in hand,

At college acceptance you stared

Wondering: fool or free man?

But it’s there

That you found her,

Blue eyes and long hair,

Then the rest was a blur…

Until down on one knee

You asked her –

She glowed

As she floated down the aisle,

Your heart at woah

Only able to smile

And that same

Over whelming joy,

Is the feeling that came

With the birth of your new baby boy

Memories made

Are what make life

Awesome.
