Melting Watch (Inspired by Salvador Dali's "Melting Watch 1954")

Melts between the fingertips and slips onto the floor

Just another tragedy that seems to go ignored

All these stopping clocks and no one ever really cares

About the lurking danger ‘til it’s crawling up the stairs

Another life has gone to waste and everyone moves on

Those joyful years were precious yes but suddenly they’re gone

As cherished as an ounce of gold life comes and then it goes

No-one’s prepared for the devastation which draws it to a close

There are shadows waiting in the distance for the perfect time to charge

While we’re enjoying on our own the best of life at large

Because unlike a ticking clock we don’t have forever

So let’s make the most of time we have ‘cause gold couldn’t be rarer
