Meiosis-Mitosis

Meiosis,

Mitosis,

a similar name.

Meiosis,

Mitosis,

a new kind of game.

The goal is to get from “2N” to “N.”

“2N” is for Mitosis,

which starts the game,

asexual reproduction,

a diploid number,

46,

chromosomes,

that go through six phases very quick.

One division,

making 2 genetically identical daughter cells.

Advantage: cell mutation.

Disadvantage: the card of plague;

that sweeps your identical pawns out of the game.

But in the game there’s a trick,

sexual reproduction;

we call this meiosis.

Referred to as “N”,

a haploid number,

23,

chromosomes,

in the end.

This time there’s 8 phases,

with two divisions,

making gametes.

Meiosis I,

has homologous chromosomes.

92, chromosomes, after synthesis;

but you flip a card that cuts them in half,

first division.

Meiosis II,

this is like mitosis,

but no synthesis;

going across the board,

splitting again.

Meiosis I and II;

these pieces connect,

like a broken puzzle,

you have to put it together again.

And then the game ends,

with 4 genetically different haploid cells.

Advantage: diverse genes.

Disadvantage: The infertility card,

that sweeps your pawns off the board,

until you play again.
