Meeting Mr. Hullman

There was a fundamental disconnect
as he thrust out his hand to shake
mine and missed three feet wide.

One eye looked off left and the other
seemed to stare right through me.

Obliged I shifted and grasped his hand
and he locked on and shook like
he was wrestling a Copperhead.

Some strange genuine reality leapt
through my arm onto my face and I
had to smile at what I knew not.

I could only wonder what hid behind those
Dixie-gray eyes of dimensional repositioning.
