Medusa Today

Medusa

Beautiful;

Innocent;

Free.

Medusa

Raped by Poseidon,

Villainized by Athena,

Slaughtered by Perseus.

Medusa

Left alone in the Temple, thinking that the goddess would save her.

Instead

Her hair turned to snakes

Her skin to scales

Her elegant fingers to claws.

Medusa, transmogfrified:

Terrible;

Monstrous;

Trapped.

But instead what would happen if Medusa existed today?

If a woman found her

Alone

And hurt

After being defiled by a man.

The woman would believe her

Not blame her

Save her and go after the man that hurt her.

Poseidon

Held accountable for his crimes.

Athena

Supporting a fellow woman.

And Medusa

Called victim instead of

Monster.
