Meaningless Surrender

Defeat was never the answer

And surrender was never an option

But fighting just isn’t worth it anymore

I loved the you you once were

But I let go

And now there’s no point in trying to salvage my pride

I ruined myself trying to get you back

And in finding my retreat

You ruined me more

Winning is never enough for you
You have to play your stupid game

So what’s your next move?

Now that I’m not playing to win

Now that I will lay out my cards

As long as it means a near end to this battle

I’ve admitted my surrender

I’ve accepted my defeat

Why won’t you walk away?

How much longer will you force me to play?
