Me the Great
I lived in the fast lane, pleasing just myself.
I didn't know what it meant to be poor.
I had money, clothes, food, house, but felt,
Like surely life meant something more.
There had to be a way to feel true love,
The kind I could not find in wealth,
So I looked for the answer with Someone above,
And found Jesus, and lost myself.
He was all I had needed, now I'm sure.
Life was different; I cared for others,
My old self was never like this before!
Now I saw old enemies as my brothers!
Love is a strange thing, so much better than hate,
I can see who I was and who I'm meant to be.
Now I live for Christ, not for me the Great,
Materials fade, but God is eternally.
