Me and Society
*Read the poem down first, then read it from bottom up. These two readings represent the filtered self -views of people in society vs. the individualistic view I have of myself, completely filter free*
Me
I live for
what other people think of me
it doesn't matter
who I am on the inside
I love
being loved by others
I don't find self worth
expressing my true personality
Because I know it 's amazing
to feel accepted by society
And it's entirely unnecessary
to show them my quirks, dreams, and true desires
Because I achingly need
the words "weird? no, you're cool"
I'd die on the inside if I heard
that I am "different"
so I thank the stars above
I found my place
And it's throughout my heart in which
I know it's sad
to blend in like a chameleon
But, well,
I have a shot at being loved by me or them
-I am forced to make a choice-
