Me

Location

They don’t see the sadness in my eyes
The way I have to live my life
To fit in with them I must change who I am
Even though it causes me strife

To be myself would be too hard
Wearing girl’s clothes would cause too many stares
It would put me in danger
But why should they care?

Why can’t we accept each other
Blacks, whites, LGBT
Provide support and hope
Let me be me

Let us use the bathrooms
Share the same stalls
It’s not contagious
Stop putting up walls.

If I had the chance I would speak my peace
I would wear makeup and my favorite dress
I would stop playing the part
I could finally confess

You make me afraid
I am not the person you see
You should be ashamed
You are not who you should be!
