Masquerade

People flow with the music,

All keeping time to the beat.

Watching this, my gut feels sick.

Everyone moving their feet

In full synchronization.

And I go with the motion

knowing what is expected.

I’m a unique creation,

This is getting to my head.

At this dance we are all masked,

I’m just doing what is asked.

Without all the steps and rules

Without the gaudy jewels,

I would simply dance as me.

I would just shed my costume.

I would but blossom and bloom.

Without all the chains of pearls,

I would dance in twirls and swirls,

Breaking free

Dancing as me.
