Martin Had a Dream
Location
There’s Segregation with dark skin and light skin and everything in between
I really don’t think this was Martin’s dream
He wanted one nation, one people, one heart
But instead we have our own blood tearing each other apart
You say I’m not black cuz I’m a little bit lighter
But open your eyes just a little bit wider
Blackness is not measured by the melanin in the skin
Nor by external beauty but rather the beauty within
Blacks are the most colorful people
But instead of treating each other as equals
We segregate ourselves into dark skin and light skin
When will the night end
And a brighter day begin
Please don’t judge your sisters and brothers
Before you even get to know one another
