Marksman

Of all men

Stands tall, proud

A statue of stoic narcissism

"Impressions matter,"

The words of an impressionist

Flat screen a windshield to his view of life

Eyes growing weary, mind never tired

Man’s got a title, living life on the wire

Cover to mindlessness a book of lies

Of all men

Stands hard, loud

An injury to stoic narcissism

"Consequences matter,"

The words of a conversationalist

His apartment key's a sword to the dragon within

lightswitch never worked, fire's breath glowing dim

Man's got a life, doing things all on a whim

Cover to reality a book of lies

Of all men

Sits reserved, guarded

A mimicry of stoic narcissism

"I matter,"

the words of an antagonist

His driver's seat a pulpit to the backseat pew,

Try all you want, he'll never listen to you

The man's got a mind saying things he doesn't like

Cover to truth a book of lies

Of all men

Lays beaten, defeated

a carcass of stoic narcissism

"Endings matter,"

the words of a dead man dying.
